Dental Prophylaxis
The Arthroplasty Society of Australia provides guidelines for the use of prophylactic antibiotics with dental surgery. These guidelines have been based on the recommendations of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Dental Association.
- No need for routine prophylactic antibiotics as there is limited evidence to demonstrate that this is a major cause of periprosthetic infection
