Meditation Before Surgery
The ACORN Joint Registry from Sydney has demonstrated that up to 60% of joint replacement patients exhibit mild to moderate anxiety symptoms before surgery. It is normal to be anxious or worried about your upcoming surgery. The good news is that most patients feel much less anxious after surgery.
Mindful meditation is focusing the mind on the present and is a tool that can be utilised to reduce stress and anxiety. This translates to less pain and better functional recovery post surgery.
